Sensor Reference Voltage Range and Performance Faults (3 codes)

3 related fault descriptions. Use each full code and the exact vehicle service information to identify its circuit, monitored condition, and required tests.

Codes in this family

This is the complete published member list for this guide. Each code retains its own page; shared diagnostic context does not mean that every member has the same test or repair.

What these codes mean

P06A6, P06A7 and P06A8 identify range/performance reports for sensor-reference circuits A, B and C. The letters identify the monitored reference; they do not establish a physical regulator count, sensor population or location. Determine the actual connections from the vehicle’s wiring and controller information.

Range/performance does not mean the reference was present and inside a healthy electrical window. In the covered Ford 2024–2025 Bosch Tricore example, these codes pair with P0641_1C, P0651_1C and P0697_1C and detect voltage outside the specified window. Separate circuit/open, low and high reports name other monitor categories; they do not create mutually exclusive physical causes or a universal obvious-versus-subtle failure pattern.

Save the full codes, status and event conditions. Compare companion reports with the actual schematic, but do not infer one shared failure from a cluster or rule out a supply, return, connection, device or controller problem because more than one reference is involved. A normal reading at one moment does not settle a recorded event, and an abnormal static reading can still be useful evidence.

Have the relevant reference and connected circuits tested using the specified protected professional method. Avoid random disconnection, terminal jumpers or improvised loads. Repair the demonstrated cause and verify the reference and any remaining companion conditions. Follow actual warnings and obtain assistance for unsafe response; the code category does not establish a safe fallback, a failed controller or a repair price.

Identify the circuit on your vehicle

Match the full DTC, reporting module, and any failure-type suffix to the service information for your exact year, make, model, engine, and equipment. An identifier alone does not establish installed hardware count, location, connector pinout, or a universal measurement.

Where the manufacturer publishes its own meaning for this code, that is the one to work from — it describes the actual component on your vehicle, which the generic definition cannot. Keep the generic description for what it is good for: it tells you which subject area the standard assigned the code to, which is useful context when the two appear to disagree. If they do disagree, follow the manufacturer.

About This Diagnostic Information

These guides provide general diagnostic context. A trouble code records a condition detected by a control module. It does not automatically identify a failed part, and the right diagnostic procedure can vary by vehicle.

Manufacturer service information, technical service bulletins, wiring diagrams, and vehicle-specific procedures should take precedence when available.
