What does P0841 mean?
P0841 sets when the transmission control module (TCM) or PCM decides the signal from transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch "A" is out of the expected range or doesn't perform the way it should. Unlike the circuit-low and circuit-high codes, the voltage isn't necessarily pinned at an electrical extreme — it's that the reading is implausible for the operating conditions, or it doesn't change when the module knows it should.
The classic trigger is a mismatch between command and feedback: when the module commands a shift and applies a solenoid, it expects the pressure sensor to register the corresponding pressure change. If the sensor doesn't indicate that change — either intermittently or every time — the module flags a range/performance fault. The sensor reports the hydraulic pressure inside the transmission so the module can confirm the clutches are being applied correctly and time its shifts; a lazy, drifting, or non-responsive sensor undermines that.
Common causes are a degraded or slow sensor, a corroded connector or high-resistance wiring that skews the signal, and contamination affecting an in-pan sensor. But because P0841 is about the pressure not tracking as expected, it can also reflect a genuine hydraulic problem — a sticking valve, a worn pump, or low fluid can make the actual pressure fail to follow the command. That's why confirming real line pressure with a gauge is the tie-breaker: if the mechanical pressure tracks correctly but the sensor doesn't report it, the sensor or wiring is at fault; if the pressure itself isn't responding, the hydraulics are.

- 4.Verify the sensor's reference voltage and ground are clean and within specification.
- 5.Substitute or bench-test the pressure sensor if the wiring and live data point to a lazy sensor.
- 6.Measure actual line pressure with a gauge to determine whether the pressure itself is failing to track the command.
