P2007: Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Closed (Bank 2)
The Bank 2 runner flaps are held shut and will not open. A one-sided stuck-closed condition is unusual enough that the asymmetry itself narrows the diagnosis considerably.

What does P2007 mean?
Set aside for a moment what a closed runner does to airflow and consider what it means that only one bank is affected. The most common reason a runner shaft seizes shut is accumulated oil and soot deposit, and deposit arrives through crankcase ventilation, exhaust recirculation and the engine's own oil consumption. Those are engine-wide conditions. Fuel quality is engine-wide. Mileage is engine-wide. If deposits were the cause, both banks would be coated on roughly the same schedule and you would expect P2006 stored next to this code, not this code alone.
So a Bank 2 stuck-closed condition arriving by itself is an argument against the usual cause and in favour of something specific to that side. That is a genuinely useful narrowing, and it points at a short list: a vacuum line to that bank cracked or trapped, a control solenoid that serves only that bank stuck in the applied position, a linkage bent during previous work in that area, a position sensor lying about a shaft that is actually free, or asymmetric ventilation routing that dumps oil vapour into one plenum half. Several engine families route the breather into one bank rather than splitting it, and on those the deposit story becomes bank-specific again — worth checking on the specific engine rather than assuming.
The practical trap with this code is what it drags along. A bank breathing through a permanently restricted path fills its cylinders differently from its twin, so its oxygen sensors read differently and the module trims that bank away from the other. It is common to find a Bank 2 lean code or a Bank 2 misfire stored alongside, and those are louder, more familiar codes that invite a technician to start replacing oxygen sensors and coils. They are consequences. Fix the runner and re-run the drive cycle before spending anything on the fuel or ignition side.
The other thing to establish early is what the manifold costs. Several modern designs cast the runner flaps and shaft into the manifold half and do not offer them as a serviceable assembly, which means a mechanically seized bank is priced as a complete manifold whether the failure is a five-dollar bushing or not.

- Bank-specific control solenoid stuck in the passing position
- Linkage bent or misassembled after earlier work on that side of the engine

- Position sensor on the Bank 2 actuator reporting closed while the shaft moves freely
- Flap blade cracked and wedged in the Bank 2 runner
Symptoms

- Bank 2 fuel trims separating from Bank 1 on a scan tool
- Bank 2 lean or misfire codes stored alongside this one
- Uneven exhaust note or slight vibration under load
- Reduced highway acceleration with normal low-speed driving
Diagnostic steps
- 1.Check whether P2006 is also stored. If it is not, treat carbon as the less likely explanation and look for a bank-specific cause first — that inference is the main advantage this code gives you.
- 2.Identify Bank 2 from the engine's cylinder numbering rather than by position, then locate its actuator and confirm you are working on the correct side.
- 3.Compare the two banks' actual runner positions in live data at high engine speed, where both should be open. The one reading closed is your side.
- 4.Trace the Bank 2 vacuum branch end to end, looking for a line that has been trapped under a bracket, melted against a hot surface, or split at a fitting. A permanently applied vacuum signal holds the flaps shut just as effectively as a seized shaft.
- 5.Swap the vacuum supply between banks. If the closed condition moves to Bank 1, the actuator and shaft on Bank 2 are fine and the fault is in the control side.
- 6.Disconnect the Bank 2 actuator and rotate the shaft by hand to separate a mechanical seizure from a control fault.
- 7.Ignore the accompanying lean or misfire codes until the runner is fixed, then clear and re-run a full drive cycle. Replacing oxygen sensors for a code the runner caused is the most expensive wrong turn available here.
