What does C0475 mean?
C0475 sets when the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) sees an electrical problem — an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to voltage — in the circuit that drives the electric power steering (EPS) assist motor. This is a hard electrical fault in the motor or its wiring, as opposed to a performance or thermal condition. When the module cannot reliably command the motor, it disables or limits steering assist and turns on a steering warning.
The electric assist motor is the muscle of an EPS system. It replaces the old hydraulic pump and applies torque to the steering column or rack based on the driver's steering effort and the module's calculations.
