What does P0768 mean?

P0768 is the electrical fault code for shift solenoid D. The TCM pulses the solenoid and monitors the circuit, and when the electrical behavior falls outside the expected window — an open circuit, a short to power or ground, or coil resistance out of specification — it sets P0768. This is the counterpart to the performance code (P0766): where P0766 is about the solenoid not delivering its hydraulic result, P0768 is about the circuit itself being electrically wrong.
